Thanks to work done by Steve Kowalik we're ready to remove the old rpc_backend transport configuration option that has been deprecated since mid 2016. This removal involves changes to the oslo.messaging.ConfFixture as well.
Steve has provided patches to those projects affected by these changes Almost all projects have merged these patches. There are a few projects - included in the subject line - where the necessary patches have not yet landed.
