Integration tests really do need to install the services from source
during the job, not in advance. Otherwise you would be unable to
have your project's change declare a cross-repository dependency
(depends-on) to a pending change in another one of those projects.

When choosing nodes to run a gate job, is there a liberty-trusty node?
The liberty core services is installed and well setup. It is helpful
