Firstly, the point I wanted to make in the section is to give some examples to students who haven't had experience of GSoC or other sorts of projects. I'd say these help them understand what they have to provide. Secondly, in addition to what dims mentioned, some students would like to propose their own project. If this is the case, it makes sense as they may not have a link to a project idea page (though I'm quite sure these people know exactly what to do). Yes, link to project idea is definitely needed. So, can we add one thing to Project Description? e.g. Link to a project idea page (if any) I have no objection to this as it can help reviewers access to the page easily. [openstack-dev] GSOC 2014 proposal
Dear All, I am a student in Columbia University (Yan Cui), and want to join the openstack GSOC 2014. After scanned the idea list posted online, I think I am interested in the idea titled implement a scalable scheduler. Currently, I wonder to know, before submitting an application on GSOC home page, do I need to submit some documents in the community (to review?) [openstack-dev] [GSoC 2014] Proposal Template
Dear mentors and students, Hi, after a short talk with dims, I created an application template wiki page[1]. Obviously, this is not a completed version, and I'd like your opinions to improve it. :) I have : 1) simply added information such as : ・Personal Details (e.g. Name, Email, University and so on) ・Project Proposal (e.g. Project, idea, implementation issues, and time scheduling) ・Background (e.g. Open source, academic or intern experience, or language experience) 2) linked this page on GSoC 2014 wiki page[2] 3) created an example of my proposal page [3] (not completed yet!) 4) linked the example to an Oslo project page[4] Thank you, Masaru [1] https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/GSoC2014/StudentApplicationTemplatehttps://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/GSoC2014/StudentApplicationTemplate#Link_your_page [2] https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/GSoC2014#Communication [3] https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/GSoC2014/Student/Masaru [4] https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/GSoC2014/Incubator/SharedLib#Students.27_proposals ___ OpenStack-dev mailing list OpenStack-dev@lists.openstack.org http://lists.openstack.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openstack-dev

[openstack-dev] [GSoC 2014] Proposal Template
Hi, I have a question about an application format as I can't find it on wiki page. Is there any specific information I should provide within a proposal? I checked other communities and some of them have an application template, so I would just like to make it clear.
