Re: [openstack-dev] [Infra][Nova][Neutron] 6WIND Networking CI - approval for posting comments

2015-10-30 Thread Francesco Santoro
Hi Armando,
thanks for you answer.

We actually just want approval for posting non voting comments to neutron.
As you said we don't have a significant history on Gerrit because, after
some successful tests, we stopped posting comments on neutron (and nova)
waiting for core maintainers approval.
Our current CI activity is obviously not long enough to request voting
rights.

We are still commenting back to Gerrit on ci-devstack but there is no big
activity on this project.
Since our idea (for future) is to obtain voting rights we need to post
comments to have a stronger Gerrit activity and to let you evaluate the
stability of our CI.

Do you suggest to keep posting on ci-devstack or can we enable comments to
neutron as well?

Regards,
Francesco

This CI is testing against our ML2 mechanism driver. This one uses the
vhostuser vif_type. So the specific code related to Nova is
get_config_vhostuser in libvirt.

We also plan to extend the vhostuser vif_type for your mechanism
driver for unplug/plug method in the mitaka release (see
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova/+spec/libvirt-vif-vhostuser-ovs-fp)

For now, we are testing this new modification with a monkey patch on
top of Nova.

Before enabling the comments, we should, I presume:
- nova: have our modification in vhost-user vif-type reviewed/merged
in the nova tree
- neutron/nova: The CI should be prove to be reliable for a long time.

Thanks,

Maxime
