All of the deployments I've been a part of so far use 5.0 or newer, as do
most of the developers I interact with. I'm not aware of anything specific
as to why 4.1 would not work (someone more familiar with details of the
vSphere APIs than I may be able to chime in), but based on

What are the versions of ESX and vCenter that should work by the time
Havana gets out? Havana Trunk-ESX 4.1 and Havana Trunk-vSphere
4.1-ESX 4.1 do not seem to work. I was only able to get Havana
Trunk-vCenter 5.1-ESX 5.1 to work.
