Hey folks,
Sorry for the short notice. This month’s meeting will be in about two hours at
16:00 UTC. See you in #openstack-operators.
Thanks!

Shelve completely dissociates from a node.

Does shelving an instance also free up the instances reservation against that
node? If it doesn’t I assume that’s why it still counts against their quota?
IE Nova is still trying to keep a slot open for them on that server, so when
you unshelv does it go back to the same node or does it go to

I was interested to establish a consensus that
- Shelved instances should not be part of the users quota
- Quota in Glance (and associated chargeback if appropriate) is needed
Glance space for us is much less expensive than people leaving their instances
running. Equally, terminating a user’s

Hi All,
The additional details of our test setup are
We are using MOS 8.0 Liberty Release with
Number Of Controllers : 3
Number of Computes : 2

I made changes to the already existing MOS 7.0 Fuel Plugin for Designate(

Hello Kenn,
You have to update Designate to Mitaka's release.
Follow the steps here
https://github.com/openstack/designate/blob/master/doc/source/upgrade/mitaka.rst
Then in /etc/designate/designate.conf?:
In [handler:nova_fixed] change:

Hello William,
We are booting our instances from Cinder volumes over ISCSI with
multipath and can perform live migration just fine.
The things we have changed:
nova.conf on compute nodes
[libvirt]
virt_type=kvm
inject_password=true
inject_key=true
inject_partition=-1
Thanks David for your inputs. I thought there would be a way to achieve
this using extra_spces in flavor and metedata in images, like images are
filtered on the basis of minimum requirements, like disk size and if the
flavor doesn't have enough disk, that image won't be listed under that
flavor.
Adding the Ops list.

Hi all,
Is there any way to map a flavor to some
Hi Jaison,
We do this in Horizon with a custom (locally changed) filter. I'll check to
see if it is upstreamed (it's certainly shareable, so I'll point you at a
git commit if it isn't all the way upstreamed once I get to the office.)
I know of no way of doing this directly in Nova at the api
We’re having a look at VM shelving for the CERN community and struggling to
find a motivation for a private cloud user to shelve their instances (and free
up resources they may be only using infrequently).
The problem is that shelved instances seem to still be included in the user’s
quota.
Shelved instances still consume IPs and hypervisor disk IIRC, so they're
not free for nova. So, there has to be some form of accounting of shelved
instances to stop resource exhaustion, especially in the IP space.
I'm not opposed to removing most of their cost from quota, but I don't
think we can
Hey, OpenStackers!
recently I've got lots comments about current time our Performance Team
meetings are held on. Right now we're having them 16:00 UTC on Tuesdays
(9:00 PST) (#openstack-performance IRC channel) and this time slot is not
that much comfortable for some of the US folks due to
