that also worked for me, I stuck to fernando's plan:
1) you DON'T have (or have it comment out) in your velocity.properties:
resource.loader = whatever
because if VelocityManager finds an already configured resource.loader it
will not set the templates.path.
2) you load the WebWorkVelocityServlet
I was thinking of using scripts instead of classes for rapid development. I'm pretty
sure I'll need java classes for production later on. But for development I'd like to
use scripts. This is why the difference should be minimal only. Groovy and BeanShell
are both very much like Java.
I think
I don't think it's server-specific.
After looking at VelocityManager code, one can see that there's a few possible ways of
configuring it:
/**
* if the user has specified an external velocity configuration file, we'll
want to search for it in the
* following order

I'm trying the WebWork2 and I follow the Quick Start Guide to do. The
program is successful to compile. But I found that the form parameter
didn't set to LoginAction. After I add the debug message. I found that
the variables, username and password, are null. hasErrors() is report

Hi
We are having some memory cosumption problems with our
webapplication (using ww 1.3) in our productive environment.
So we are currently profiling it.
The memory profiling showed that these 2 webwork classes
are not garbage collected and grow during time:
webwork.util.QuerySegment
Hi,
I noticed the scripting discussion and hacked up a solution for running
Groovy scripts as views (not actions). Some examples on how the taglibs
could be implemented are available at http://www.jroller.com/page/DaGGeRRz.
As I mention in the blog, I'm not reaaally sure this is a good idea
Hi,
I'm using the radiomap template but creating the value list with the OGNL:
#tag( Radio template=/template/custom/radiomap.vm label='Com visita?'

listKey=top.value )
The property comVisita on my model
Hi,
I try to make WebWork working on WebLogic. In my velocitytemplates I use
macro:
#macro(includeservlet $name)
$webwork.
include($name,$req,$res)
#end
On Tomcat it works but on WebLogicI haveexception:
javax.servlet.ServletException: Original response not available

It should be relatively easy, for someone who uses a scripting
environment and knows how to tell it to execute a script, to make
something like this possible:
action name=createRole class=comBeanShellScriptAction
param name=scriptscripts/CreateRoleAction.bsh/param
result
Just note
In your's blog you haven't mentioned anything about groovlets (aka groovy +
servlet). They are somthing like servlets but much easier to use and is very
like php. It needs only to add a groovy servlet and map all request with
*.groovy. Evrything else will be handled automatically.

To get the current object in Myset you should be able to write
ww:property/ or ww:property value=./
I do not know if you actually mean that the Mymanager.calculate code should
work as it is written? It will not anyway. Something like this could work
though:
ww:bean id=myManager
Now webwork2 for UI tags is using velocity. It means that for every
ww:ui
tag there is velocity involved. With groovlet it is possible to easily
replace all velocity templates in just one day or two the most (at
least I
hope :) ). And because grooblets are bytecode and they are cached by
Using BSF I created a ScriptAction class that calls the script during
ActionSupport.execute(). But there open issues. What about Objects to be accessed
(get/set) by a Form. Action class would need to support some generic getter/setter
methods in order to modify the according script variable.
You can just access the Parameter map from ActionContext...

Hi,
You are right that the Query class contains a cache of all expressions
(instances of Query). It is a static HashMap in WW1.3 so it is never GC'd as
you know.
I can see a couple of cases that would make it grow:
1. Parameters that are sent in requests are set on actions with the help of

Thomas,
In LoginAction-validation.xml, you have the field names set as Username
and Password. They should be username and password.
Thank you for your extremely well thought out and detailed email!

Just a note -- I hardcoded the interval to 2 seconds in VelocityManager

Thanks for the reply,
the problem is that there is no name for the object in the set, i.e. it
is not a property of an object. It could be any class inside that set.
Can you please tell me how do I get the current object at the iteration?
i.e. ww:property ?? /
Thank you again for the reply
And how to avoid CompoundRoot Access error? Object does not exist?
