Re: [Openvas-discuss] Task not starting

2015-08-19 Thread Arthur
Those are the same symptoms I experience. Maybe you could have a look in my
`openvasmd --progress --verbose --rebuild` hangs forever thread ; despites
not having found a solution to my problems, you could find usefull command to
test.

Which packages and operating system are you using ?

 Hi all,
I am having issues with a slave not starting a task triggered by the
master but rather keeps it in state New.

When looking at the process, before starting any task it shows:
 root 3424 12.7 1.1 108852 24616 ?Ss 16:13 0:46
 openvassd: Reloaded all the NVTs.

 instead of:
 root 3324 1.6 0.6 108916 24576 ?Ss 17:39 0:40
 openvassd: Waiting for incoming connections

When starting a Task locally on the Slave, it also ends in state New and
can not even be started manually.

I ran openvasmd --rebuild but it did not complete within about an hour.

The configuration has been working perfect until last week friday running
a scheduled scan successful, but unintended stopped working last sunday
when another scan was scheduled to run.

I did not find anything related to the above in the log files.

 Any help is very welcome.

 Thanks, Helmut

[Openvas-discuss] start_task permission OpenVAS 7‏‏

2015-08-19 Thread Christopher Cutajar
Hi Everyone,Lately I added a new user to my database and tried to share the
tasks I already have. I granted read permission to each task so that the other
user will be able to read the task. Successfully the other user is able to read
the task. Now I am trying to give the user the start_task permission for a
particular task only. After some research and performed a number of tries,
unfortunately I did not manage to do so.Is there anyone who performed and dealt
with such issue in the OpenVAS 7. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks and

Maybe make sure all previous openvasmd's are killed.

Do you mean that I need to shutdown openvasmd before entering the
 command ?
If so, I think here's my problem.

Yes, you have to pass those options to the actual demon command (the
command you run to start openvasmd).

  0 means any size.

Ok thanks, I'll try with 0 too.
But note that man openvasmd says:
0 to use the default, negative to allow any size.

 I don't think that's true any more. I'll take a look, thanks.
