[Openvas-discuss] Openvas user creation

2017-10-26 Thread Buddhika De Alwis
Hi all,

The question is regarding the Openvas users. I want to create an account to
show the tasks and results to my team. I was running the tasks using the
admin account however even if I created another account with the admin
role, using that account you cannot view the hosts/tasks/reports executed
using the admin account.

Can anyone provide any insight on this?

Thanks in advance,

Re: [Openvas-discuss] OpenVAS 9 PDF report issue

2017-10-26 Thread Espresso Beanies
Hi Thijis,

Thanks for the reply. I completely looked past that option. I’ll check again
when my scan runs and see if the PDF issue resolves itself.

I have no PDF generation issues with OpenVAS 9 on Ubuntu 16.04.02 LTS.
The email function within an alert to send the PDF is also working ok for me.

Perhaps you want to reinstall/setup your latex software packages.

It appears PDF reports are being rendered as gibberish in OpenVAS 9. I ran a
full, deep scan and though the bookmarks were accurate, the content displayed
in the PDF pages was either blank or rendered with broken lines and colored
rectangles. I confirmed I have 'texlive-latex-extra --no-install-recommends'
since I am running this on Ubuntu Xenial.

which is most likely your issue as it doesn't install the following package:

texlive-fonts-recommended

see the documentation here on how to use alerts which are capable of
sending e-mails with pdf attachments:

Re: [Openvas-discuss] Url scan openvas

you should keep in mind that OpenVAS is not an web application scanner
like w3af or similar. There are some basic checks for SQL Injection or
Directory Traversals. For those you can add the "site" path (not the
complete URL) to the cgi_path setting shown here:

http://docs.greenbone.net/GSM-Manual/gos-4/en/vulnerabilitymanagement.html#general-preferences

But for a deeper coverage you should use one of the OSP wrappers like
the one for w3af listed here:

http://www.openvas.org/install-source.html

[Openvas-discuss] stupid question

2017-10-26 Thread AP - Alan Jackson
I am brand new to the discussion list. Is there a way to search through the
archive of all the past threads? I don't want to post a question that has
already been answered, and I would rather not open each archive month by month
to search for a topic. That seems incredibly inefficient.

Thank you.
