the openvasmd.log files from the master and the slave would help to
understand what happened.

In principle, manually starting a scheduled task should not create
any problems.

BTW: You should update your setup. There were quite some fixes, some about
scheduling, see the CHANGES of openvas-manager for example.

[Openvas-discuss] Manual start scheduled job bug?

2016-10-24 Thread Thijs Stuurman
Hi,

I have a few OpenVAS installations running, one serving as a 'master' which has
the others configured as Slaves.
This works quite but last Friday I had to reinstall two Slaves after I did this:

* Job configured on Master with a Slave to execute it

* The job is scheduled, this also prevents me from starting the job
from the task list. (GSAD > Scan Management > Tasks)

* When you open the task, you actually can press the 'play/start'
button; I clicked it ... (GSAD > Scan Management > Task Details of specific
task)

Now I know I saw an error in my console somewhere but I didn't catch it. I
don't think it has anything to do with using a slave, but perhaps it is.
I think that currently I shouldn't be able to start a job which is scheduled
but from the task window itself I can and that really messes something up.
Can anyone verify this? I don't feel like breaking my Slave scanner again today.

openvas-libraries-8.0.7
openvas-manager-6.0.8
openvas-scanner-5.0.5

Symptons: Slave unable to run jobs, openvasmd cannot rebuild cache.
Fix: purge redis-server and NVT cache, resync and rebuild. (I actually removed
my entire installation and executed new fresh make install's)
(Luckily I had to do this the Slave so I didn't lose any data on my master of
previous scans)
