Re: [Openvpn-users] please help me to find out why my Win7 client doesn't have web site access

2018-07-11 Thread James Peng via Openvpn-users
Hello Gert,

Thank you for your help.

So my new client config will be this:

client
dev tun
proto udp
remote XXX.hopto.org 1194
nobind
persist-key
persist-tun
verb 4
float
ca ca.crt
cert client1.crt
key client1.key
comp-lzo yes
tun-mtu 1500
auth SHA256
cipher AES-128-CBC
redirect-gateway def1
dhcp-option DNS 8.8.8.8 <-- new line

I will get it a try this afternoon. It seems Windows 7 is not as good as
Windows 10 and Android. All my vpn clients have almost the same config, only
Windows 7 has this issue.

Thanks,
James

The DNS servers your client has configured do not work via the VPN tunnel.
A config that has "redirect-gateway" (= all my internet access via tunnel)
also (usually) needs to have "dhcp-option DNS 1.2.3.4"
with the DNS servers to use.

Our you configure 8.8.8.8 manually in the TCP/IP options -> extended
-> DNS settings.

2018-07-11 Thread James Peng via Openvpn-users
Hello there, this email was too long with the client log in the
message body. Now it is on another email with the same subject ending with
2.

I am still struggle with my Windows 7 VPN client's internet access. My
OpenVPN client-server works great for my Windows 10 laptop and my Android
phones. But my Windows 7 laptop cannot gain web site access with the VPN
connection.

Please note, it is just that I cannot access web sites. I can still send and
receive email to and from my another account between different email
vendors. The following are "tracert" info, "route print" info, "Client Log"
, "Client config" and web browser's info for you. I have replaced some
number with XXX.

C:\Users\l>tracert www.google.com

Unable to resolve target system name www.google.com
.
