I find it impossible to recommend any specific modems because important
firmware features like MBIM depend on both operator branding
OverlayFS version 23 and later require an additional directory to be given at
mount time.
Add a patch to the fstools to first test wether it can mount it without (for
older versions), and if not, use the new mechanism.

3.16 kernel, and more specifically on the mvebu SoCs.
The first patch ports the existing 3.14 patches to 3.16, and creates a

On boards with large page size, the rootfs we generate might end up using less
PEB than the minimum number required by UBI for a dynamic volume.
Change the rootfs to a static volume, which removes such a requirement, and
isn't changing anything, since our rootfs is in read only anyway.
