Summary of meeting (today) November 23, 2016 15.00 UTC /7.00 PST Meeting #13

  1. Review of last week work and Agenda bashing

Need FUNCTEST-237 replaced by one
that Opera/Orchestra will commonly use - YingjunLi/Giuseppe)

Giuseppe went over the codes listed for wrapper calls for or-vi and
or-vnfm and explained how it
uses Java Public calls to invoke VIMDriver which can be a Python Client or API
calls to OpenStack VIM.

https://github.com/openbaton/openbaton-libs/blob/master/vim-int/src/main/java/org/openbaton/nfvo/vim_interfaces/vim/Vim.java

The code below is similar code for or-vnfm for VNF lifecycle management calling
the rabbitMQ and can be aligned for calls to JuJu or tacker with some common
agreements to be discussed next week.

baton/openbaton-libs/blob/master/vnfm-sdk/src/main/java/org/openbaton/common/vnfm_sdk/interfaces/VNFLifecycleManagement.java

For each of the projects OpenBaton/Orchestra, Open-O/Opera please detail the
items A,B,C and D below (Bryan to reword and fix the same below)
A. Compile workflow of LCM of a VNF.

B. Compile the MANO NFVO components/Blocks for OPNFV MANO stack
Integration. - Action Item on Prakash

C. Define and describe the role of VNFM (Juju, Tacker) if these are used in B
as options. - Action Artur to plan for getting Rebeca team to present on how
they use Juju with NFVOs)

D. Compile Sequence Diagram for LCM of VNF through the components/Blocks (NFVO,
VIMDriver, VNFM,...) - Giuseppe suggested this to be able to co-relate with
codes links listed above.

  1. Where is the test plan and how will the projects share the testing codes?
- Proposal to be discussed next week with inputs for Giuseppe of Orchestra
(OpenBaton team). -Deferred to item 2/Nov30
  2. How would the results of collaboration through MANO WG reflect in
D-release of OPNFV. - A template to be reviewed to see what should the best
practices to include in the D-release based on MANO WG participation by Opera,
Orchestra and associated VNFM. -- Deferred to item 3/Nov30

Hi Yujun
I’m glad to see qtip developing into an important part of testing capabilities
in OPNFV. As you can see, I find myself unable to find time to contribute
anymore, so please take me off as a committer in qtip.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you and everyone in the project – from

Go ahead Vijayendra and put your name on SFC-54. First come, first served.

If nobody else wants it, I will take SF-55 as it should be pretty quick to do
it.

Hi,

I would recommend following a similar approach to SDNVPN repo:
https://git.opnfv.org/sdnvpn/tree/test/functest

Where we define a config file testcases.yaml to define test-related parameters,
a script run_tests.py that triggers the test cases and a different script for
the each test case.

Once that is done, we will immediately merge this
https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/24757/

One thing to take into consideration for this refactor is to implement all the
pre-steps that are currently defined in exec_tests.sh
https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/24757/6/functest/ci/exec_test.sh
Such as creating the security groups or running prepare_odl_sfc.py

Thanks,
Jose

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Regarding using OPNFV yardstick over existing Openstack multi-node setup

2016-11-23 Thread Michal Skalski
Hi,

About your problems with virtual box deployment is network test fail on access
to external repos? I assume that yes since you mentioned fuel-createmirror
command. This command is no longer used and not needed since mirrors are
included on ISO, you can read how to use them here
http://artifacts.opnfv.org/fuel/colorado/2.0/docs/installationprocedure/index.html#optional-set-local-mirror-repos.
 You can also give a try
https://github.com/jonasbjurel/OPNFV-Playground/tree/master/ci_fuel_opnfv which
will setup for you libvirt environment.

I just added intel-pod9, that is why it is declared :)

Thank you. That is the document I was looking for.

From that I found out that intel-pod9 is not registered as a pod, and that is
why I was getting the 404 when doing the HTTP POST.

Hi Mark,

If you want to post results you need:

1) Project declarated in the DB. Done for Storperf:
http://testresults.opnfv.org:80/test/api/v1/projects/storperf
2) Declare test cases under the project. Currently 1 test for Storperf:
http://testresults.opnfv.org:80/test/api/v1/projects/storperf/cases

Once that is done, you need to do a call to the test api from your code. This
is an example using python:
https://git.opnfv.org/functest/tree/functest/utils/functest_utils.py#n185

The api is on http://testresults.opnfv.org/test/api/v1 and this is the model
schema you need to post a result:

{
  "project_name": "",
  "scenario": "",
  "stop_date": “",
  "case_name": "",
  "build_tag": "",
  "version": "",
  "pod_name": "",
  "criteria": "",
  "installer": "",
  "start_date": "",
  "details": ""
}

Serena can help out since she is in charge of the API/DB.

Jose

[opnfv-tech-discuss] Regarding using OPNFV yardstick over existing Openstack multi-node setup

2016-11-23 Thread Abhilash Goyal
Hello Team,

Want to ask if there is any way through which I can use OPNFV functionality
over my existing OpenStack multinode setup which has tacker component, i.e.
without using iso image provided in OPNFV website.

I am trying to deploy OPNFV Colorado in oracle virtual box, but each time
it fails on network verification. I had also tried to use offline
installation using fuel-createmirror command, but it still fails.

Hi Qingyu

To add you to the compass contributors group, I need your work email.
your linux foundation account does not need to be connected to your
work email. I only need the work email to send the invite.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] OpenDaylight - OpenStack Newton integration

2016-11-23 Thread Michal Skalski
Hi,

I’m currently deploying OpenDaylight Boron with OpenStack Newton, and
experience problem related to fact that in Newton the native interface (Open
vSwitch python api) is used by default to communicate with OVS [1].
When I create new subnet with dhcp enabled, neutron dhcp agent is trying add
port on br-int bridge on controller, but with native interface it will first
ensure that ovs listen in passive mode for new ovsdb commands so it sets
manager to: ptcp:127.0.0.1:6640. This remove ODL manager, which I set during
deployment (active mode). I currently resolved this by using vsctl interface
(ovsdb_interface = vsctl in [ovs] section) but wonder what would be the best
approach here? I know that ODL have their own dhcp implementation, does anyone
have experience with that, how stable this is?

[1] http://docs.openstack.org/releasenotes/neutron/newton.html#id2

Thanks,
Michal

It seems that new committers still don't have the right of committer. Could you
help to kindly handle it.

Hi Yardstick Committers.

I would like to nominate Mingjiang Li as committer to Yardstick.
 He has been one of the most active Yardstick contributors during Colorado
development phase. He did lots of contributions to generic test cases (net
latency between nodes, throughput between nodes, IPV6 test case), Framework
(test case show CLI, Reporting, test suite evolution ) and
documentation(Userguide). Meanwhile, he also gave two presentations at Testing
Weekly Meeting and Yardstick Weekly Meeting.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Meetings discussion (GoToMeeting, meetings info on wiki, etc)

2016-11-23 Thread Kunzmann, Gerald
Dear all,

My 2 cent on the topic:

- +1 on the single recurring meetings to solve the disconnect issue

- IMHO, both the calendar view as well as the list of meetings have
their justifications and pros. As some meetings only occur on a bi-weekly
basis, the calendar view for one week may not show you all project meetings. In
order to reduce the maintenance efforts (which I agree exist), what about
having the meeting info in a rst file which is then automatically added to
meeting list and the project meeting subpage? I am not sure we could even
include the calendar, or, alternatively, generate the meeting details from the
calendar – that would be awesome.

- On the other conferencing tools: in the past, we had for some time
been using our WebEx account for Promise meetings. The reason we changed back
to OPNFV GTM was that if I was not available for the call, it was difficult for
others to start the meeting. Moreover, some other conferencing tools do not
work well with some company firewalls, e.g. I am always having issues
connecting to a Lync session.

Best regards,
Gerald

[mailto:opnfv-tech-discuss-boun...@lists.opnfv.org] On Behalf Of Raymond Paik

To: opnfv-tech-discuss@lists.opnfv.org
Subject: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Meetings discussion (GoToMeeting, meetings info
on wiki, etc)

Continuing the conversation from the TSC call...

  * One proposal was to have a single recurring meeting per each GTM account
(tech-proje...@opnfv.org &
tech-projec...@opnfv.org) so that individual
project meeting won't get disconnected when someone else dials for another
meeting with a different access code. If there's a consensus for this (it did
sound like it on the call), I can create a new/global recurring meeting for
each account and delete other individual project meetings.
  * On the wiki front, there are two places where meeting information needs
to be updated on the main meetings page
(https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings). The calendar on the right-hand side
of the page plus the list of meetings on the left. I personally find the
calendar view useful to get a sense of what meetings are taking place each day.
 As for the list of meeting on the left, does it make sense to maintain this
list when we also have daughter pages such as
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings/Release?  In addition, some project
wiki pages have meeting information on their project pages. I think this is
more a decision on how/where the community wants to maintain meeting
information. If the community agrees that each project, work groups, etc. will
maintain daughter pages (e.g. https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings/ABC) I
think this will simplify things as people will only need to maintain meeting
information in 2 places (calendar + daughter page) vs. 4 today as Trevor Copper
suggested on the call.
  * Another reminder on conferencing tools. Some people are already doing
this, but if you have access to other conferencing tools (e.g. through work)
and you don't need all the features of GTM (e.g. screen sharing), there's no
need to use OPNFV GTM accounts for all project meetings. Getting more GTM
accounts not only costs money for OPNFV, but it also becomes more difficult to
manage.
Please reply to the thread with your comments/questions.

Thanks,

Ray
