Re: [pax-exam] move to pax-exam 5?

2017-07-14 Thread 'Christoph Läubrich' via OPS4J

Hi Toni,

I have a list of ideas here I try to bring to the JIRA the next days :-)
Primarly these are related to allow more than one container to be
started inside test (e.g. for client/server tests) and having a pertest
choice of the container to run as well as making COnfiguration of
containers more felxible and shareable. I also think we should
reorganize the OSGi-Container so the can better share code that is used
across container (atm many code/functions are copy) ideally in
such a way that the container can be run local/remote without the
implemntation taking notice of it.

I think we can add some Epics (and maybe add stories) for the "big"
ideas (e.g. BND-Support, Documentation, Website) for discussion. Maybe
we can group them with a label (PaxExam 5) or something so they can be
found by a filter.

Website: AFAIK we habe https://ops4j1.jira.com/wiki/display/PAXEXAM4
what includes a blog we might can use as an entry-point. About
asciidoc/markdown I don't know if it is "better" than the confluence
space, I just like the JIRA integration and easy formating capabilties.
I have also seen projects managing and display their docs at Github so
that might also be an option.

What do you think, shall we move docs to markdown/asciidoc for exam 5?
Because they are so.. hard to find. Also we need a proper landing page
for pax exam. These days i point people to the github site, even
though we (ahm.. niclas?) own ops4j.org . WDYT?

Re: [pax-exam] move to pax-exam 5?

2017-07-14 Thread 'Christoph Läubrich' via OPS4J

Hi Achim,

can you direct me to a link? I'll then check that and try to fix it, I'm
running 'mvn clean install' locally and that passes at least at two of
my machines.

What I see is that when running a full build from time to time maven
coplains about a "JVM exit without goodby", running the test again
works, so I'm not sure if I must give maven more max-mem or something.

Since this would require some "API-Breaks" I think it would be good to create
a 5.0.0 version for this, so I'd like to create a new 4.x.x branch from the

Any thoughts?

Hi Oliver,

multi container support is the "ultimate" goal of my changes and I plan
to supply such a feature after the refactoring/cleanup.

About JUnit 5 + Before/After I think it is the best to create a JIRA
ticket (or is there already one?) that describes what features/ideas you
have hwo these should work.

sounds reasonable. Some features I would like to see support for in Pax Exam
"Next": @BeforeClass/@AfterClass, multiple containers per test (cluster
testing) and of course JUnit 5.
