Administrator position open in Boston Location: Boston, MA Duration: 6-12+ months Rate Market *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * *Operational Management* 1. Responsible for installation, configuring and maintaining local area network equipment with solutions to technical issues and support to business applications solution. 2. Monitors and manage all network systems performance, operating systems and end-user software. 3. Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. 4. Manage communications and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, and the IPCS network VPN. 5. Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance with business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. 6. Perform network and security audits. 7. Perform and test routine system backups and restores. 8. Deploy workstations, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems. 9. Install, configure, and administer all ITS software including but not limited to Data Warehousing, Honeywell Plantscape/Modscape, Symantec Backup Exec, Legato, Aegis, Citilog, etc. 10. Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary. 11. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. 12. Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance. 13. Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases. 14. Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services. 15. Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use. 16. Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles. 17. Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team. 18. Serve as a backup to the ITS Applications Specialist. ** ** *NON ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* ** 1. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required and directed by the ITS Director. ** ** ** *MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:* *Education:* Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or a related Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university, or ten (10) years equivalent experience in a related field. *Experience: *A minimum of five (5) years experience in the systems administration of critical systems operating in a 24x7 environment. Experience in ITS preferred. A minimum of five (5) years experience in TCPIP protocols, Serial Communications – Modbus over serial and Modbus over Ethernet (IP), VPN services, Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems.
