Network Engineer Phoenix, AZ Duration: 6 months contract Only Locals Job ID: 42091 Job Responsibilities & Duties • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records • Help to develop, implementation and maintaining policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery. • Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including *UCS servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.* • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry. • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices. • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances. • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. • Participate in managing all network security solutions. • ITIL Foundations and MOF Guidelines *Skills and Competencies:* • Proven experience and success with *LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation*. • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards. • Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience. • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits. • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required • Analyzing existing services and comprehending the planning for needed improvements • Analyzing existing performance trends and recommending adjustments or changes • Analyzing audit and security information • Implementing software patches, security fixes, and tests and validates modified system configurations • Ensuring compliance with standards for systems software and documentation • Monitoring system reliability and availability. • Communicate effectively (in oral and written form) with a variety of individuals; author design documents with the assistance of a project leader; work well within small and large team environments; and analyze problems and resolve issues with both short-term workarounds and long-term solutions. Ideal/Preferred Candidate will have experience in the following: • Completed Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field. Four years of additional general experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree • 2-3 years' experience with Cisco Networking. • 1+ year VPN troubleshooting experience. • Is aware of, and works within, the ITIL and MOF guidelines of IT service and process management -- Looking forward to work with you...
