Position: Sr. Data Modeler (DB2)

Location: Mooresville, NC

Duration: 6 Months (extendable)



*Primary Skills:*

·         Experienced Data modeler using DB2, ERWin

·         Experience in Product Master Data (Item Management, Product
Processes)

·         Physical and logical design of the Database for flexible
structure for an operational database

·         Translate the data to a operational data store to distribute to
other downstream systems

·         Ability to challenge the team  on the database design

·         Retail experience nice to have



The primary responsibility of the Data Modeler is data standards and
procedures, warehousing, design and development of logical and physical
data models and databases, distributed data management, information
management functions.

The Data Modeler develops data models to meet the needs of the
organization's information systems and business requirements; communicates
with other teams on the development of data models.



*Responsibilities*

·         Develops data models to meet the needs of the organization's
information systems

·         Manages the flow of information between departments through the
use of relational databases.

·         Maintains data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy.

·         Stays informed of the ways the organization uses its data.

·         Plans for collection method, data cleansing, and normalization of
enterprise data to support decision making and reporting.

·         Develops policies and procedures related to development and
support of new and ongoing systems to ensure the integrity of data.

·         Coordinates data models, dictionaries, and other database
documentation across multiple applications.

·         Works with data transformation teams to ensure that the model
design and development is properly communicated

·         Understand and translate business needs into data models
supporting long-term solutions.

·         Work with the Application Development team to implement data
strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models.

·         Create logical and physical data models using best practices to
ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.

·         Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support
new and existing projects.

·         Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with
corresponding metadata.

·         Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding
practices to ensure consistency of data models.

·         Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new
environments.

·         Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from
databases and SQL scripts.

·         Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and
discrepancies.

·         Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.

·         Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose
appropriate solutions.

·         Develop data models according to company standards.

·         Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Programmers and others on
project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and
interfaces.

·         Review modifications to existing software to improve efficiency
and performance.

·         Examine new application design and recommend corrections if
required.



*Requirements*

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
required

·         Master’ s degree level coursework in Computer Science, CIS, or
related field preferred

·         5+ years of relevant work experience in data modeling or data
analysis

·         5+ years utilizing advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and
Microsoft Access in the workplace

·         5+ years of experience pulling data from big data sources and
analyzing data to build effective models for analysis
