We have just received a new request for an experienced SQL Development DBA
for one of our longtime clients in Birmingham, AL.  I am attaching the full
job description below, but I wanted to highlight the following note from
our client:



“SSIS is very important. SSRS is nice, but not a hot button.”



Previous experience in the Banking Industry would be a plus.  The project
will begin ASAP and will continue for approximately one year.



*SQL Development DBA*



*Primary Responsibilities*
• Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems, and devises computer
programs, systems and related procedures to process data.
• Prepares program specifications and diagrams and develops coding logic
flowcharts.
• Encodes, tests, debugs and installs the operating programs and procedures
in coordination with computer operations and user departments.
• Reviews progress and evaluates results.
• May train junior level personnel in technical complexities of assigned
work.
• Operates with substantial latitude for independent action or decision.
• Reviews progress with management.

*Skills and Competencies*
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to
express complex technical concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
• Good project management skills, operating as part of a team organizing,
planning and executing projects.
• Good troubleshooting skills.
• Assists in development and support of data intensive applications,
specific to those supporting Application Development Corporate Systems
Shared Data Services.
• Analyzes existing and proposed systems, and devises appropriate solutions
and related procedures to meet the specified requirements.
• Possesses ability to work with multiple technologies, and to learn
unfamiliar technologies quickly.
• Effectively communicates with team members.
• Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and
ingenuity.
• Creates solutions that perform well and are maintainable.
• Integrates data from disparate systems into multiple targets.
• Perform analysis of business and user needs, document requirements and
translate into proper system requirement specifications.
• Design, code, test, debug, document and maintain solutions.
• Work in phases of systems analysis and considers the business
implications of the application of technology to the current business
environment.
• Develop enterprise data solutions using primarily the SQL Server stack,
including SSIS and SSRS. Experience with Oracle is a plus but not required.
• Follow coding best practices, standards and architectures for relevant
technologies.
• Integrate in-house and commercial off the shelf applications using
appropriate integration strategies.
• Accurately estimate work effort and complete assignments on schedule.
• Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for
accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add
value to job accomplishments.
• Validates data integration by developing and executing test plans and
scenarios including data design, tool design, data extract/transform,
networks, and hardware.
• Delivers data integration by implementing shared and stand-alone
databases; integrating data shared across legacy, new development, and
purchased package environments; developing system modification
specifications; mapping data; establishing interfaces; developing and
modifying functions, programs, routines, and stored procedures to export,
transform, and load data; meeting performance parameters; resolving and
escalating integration issues; coordinating actions among users, operations
staff, and outside vendors; recommending adjustments as objectives change;
documenting operational procedures and data connections.

*Requirements:*
• 5+ year’s related hands-on experience with SQL Server technologies, SSIS,
SSRS, or Oracle experience is a plus.
• Solid SQL skills.
• Strong technical knowledge and experience related to data integration.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to
express complex technical concepts in business terms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
• Experience with structured design, development, and implementation of
data intensive solutions.
• Ability & willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
• Must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment.
