Position: Database Architect
Location: Chalotte NC
Duration: 6+ months
*Project Description:*
Client is currenlty looking for a Operational Database Architect. Provides
database architecture guidance for development projects and enhancement
efforts. Consults with IT application teams and management to identify and
recommend opportunities for better utilization of technologies and/or
techniques that could improve the delivery of database functionality to the
business
• Participates in the development of database strategy and
architecture as it pertains to the infrastructure operations area.
• Participates in the development, oversight and review of
proposed system and project database architecture designs to ensure
effective integration, extensibility, maintainability, and adherence to
standards within the database area.
• Serves as a contact within the Database area to provide
information on enterprise database technology, standards, database design
guidance, and serves as an escalation point for technical problem
resolution.
• Works with IT Operations management, Application management and
business management to identify and recommend opportunities for using
technology in ways that improve business application systems, business area
operations, and/or infrastructure operations.
• Develops and maintains awareness of emerging database
technological trends, best practices, and the required technical and
business knowledge needed to perform assigned duties.
• Consult on application or infrastructure development to
harmonize systems or infrastructure with the planned technical architecture,
and identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to
accommodate immediate or future need
*Required Skills: *
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology / Computer Science or equivalent
years of experience and training.
• 6 - 8 years experience in the design, implementation and support
of mission-critical, very large (>500 GB) Oracle 10g/11G databases and/or
SQL 2005/2008 databases.
• Significant experience with technology features in Oracle such
as Partitioning, Resource Manager, Materialized View, Change Data Capture,
Statspack, Flashback Recovery, RMAN, OEM, Grid Control, and options
available in executing database statistics
• Significant experience with technology features in SQL Server
such as SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integration Services,
Reporting Services, SQL Server Security Enhancements, Database Mirroring,
Online Restore, and Online Indexing Operations.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication
skills. .
• Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, strong
organizational skills, and ability to analyze business problems and
opportunities.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects
while meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to build consensus, motivate, and lead a team of IT
professionals.
• Ability to communicate complex technical subjects in a clear and
concise manner.
• 5 years of broad and in-depth enterprise-wide knowledge of
related infrastructure, tools and services in support of Oracle and/or SQL
Server databases such as SANs, backup technologies, database administration,
and business continuity
• Experience in large 24x7 production IT operations
*Prefered Skills:*
Significant experience with technology features in SQL Server
such as SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integration Services,
Reporting Services, SQL Server Security Enhancements, Database Mirroring,
Online Restore, and Online Indexing Operations.
• Working knowledge of Informatica for Extract, Transform and Load
for Operational Data Stores and Data Warehouses
• Experience with tools utilized in the design and support of
Oracle databases, such as TOAD, Erwin Data Modeler, Grid Control, and HP
Openview Operations.
• Experience with tools utilized in the design and support of SQL
Server databases; such as SQL Server Management Studio and Erwin Data
Modeler.
• Experience with designing and delivering Oracle/SQL databases in
support of major applications, such as Peoplesoft Financials, Maximo, Indus,
and SPL including large data warehouse environments
• 2+ years of previous experience in a management or leadership
role designing or supporting large database systems.
