follow-up on this one... it seems that everything else won't work like select max(open) from gain_view or select name from gain_view or select max(length(security_name)) from gain_view... except for select * from gain_view... tried these for almost all columns and am still getting 904 error...

Ken, A co-worker of mine has installed Oracle 9i on XP Home Edition. This is for learning etc. Nothing to do with any Business related work. From what I know (from Metalink) 9i will be supported only on XP Professional Edition(32-bit at the moment, currently no support for 64-bit XP ). HTH, -

Well, if you're interested in getting MetaLink access, you could write up a brief memo on the need for support so that you will at least have access to software patches. If nothing else, it will be CYA for you so the damagers can't come back on you, asking why you didn't let them know about it.
