If I understand you correctly and you want to use DataGuard for site
failover and RAC for machine failover, that should work without any
problems. It is indeed what I would recommend for a full HA configuration,
since RAC only answers the machine failover part, not site failover.

Hi Rachael,
You have me a little confused here.
What do you mean by We over allocate space ? To the index segments or to
the tablespace ?
Why the need to rebuild the indexes ? How are they using more space than
required ?
What do you mean that you adjust the pctfree so you can determine how
I keep Concurrent Managers on the DB server because the managers fire off
child processes
to run all requests and I do not want report jobs submitted by users that
are actually large batch-jobs
running over SQLNet. It would be the old Client-Server issue where
Reports on a Client ran

I have a question about using the port forwarding feature of ssh.
The initial connection to the listener gets tunneled thru by ssh. But what

The one thing that I missed in my reply were the ;-) signs. I say hear

Thanks for the reply, Pete.
We recommended EMC SRDF to keep the production and DR in sync, but the

is, it would take me say 15 minutes tops, to activate the standby in case
of a production site failure. But then, making
