I have used rman exclusively for all backups since I started with Oracle.
It was very buggy before 8.0.6 but after that it is very stable. It is well
worth learning, I can send you some articles about is if you would like.
You can't send attachments on the list.

We are using RMAN in conjunction with Netbackup, Veritas on Sun Solaris 2.6
and Oracle 8.0.4, 8.1.5, and 8.1.7.x databases.
RMAN is a bit of work to set up. The lower-level RMAN commands are a bit
