When I was laid off a year and a half ago, I created
three resumes:
- one which emphasized my programming experience.
- one which emphasized my DBA experience
- one which emphasized my UNIX SA experience
Then I looked for jobs in all three categories.

If you are single, get a job wherever it offers and then move back to your
favorite place. Try not to be out of job for too long if you can.
I have friend got laid off here in CA and got a job in Orlando, FL. And he
has family.
