FYI:  Apparently the reverse function exists in SQL Plus but not in PL/SQL
(I couldn't compile a function that referenced it).

utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2(utl_raw.reverse(utl_raw.cast_to_raw('LOOK')))
worked perfectly though.
