Hi Charlie
Via SQL*Plus I get connected without any problem via SQL*Net.
When using the JdbcCheckup.java program,it sends back messages on whatever
has gone through and one of them is the notification that it has connected
successfully.
If you look at the program which as I mentioned earlier on comes with the
samples, you will notice that the next part is the selection of 'Hello
world' from dual.

If I were faced with this situation, I'd tackle in in the following manner.
Part of the reason is that on a good day I can only spell Java. IMO, you
need to determine if you have a Java problem or a more basic SQL*Net
problem.
Unless & until you can connect to the DB via SQL*Net using some other flavor
of client s/w; such as SQL*Plus or Access, etc. I'd ignore the Java angle.
Are you REALLY sure that it connetcts OK?
