Ok, so right about the time Oracle 6 went
production (we were a beta site), I was thelead DBA for a very large
project that put retail store systems in around 1000 locations around the
country (USA). Each one of those locations had their own Oracle database
. That
way, when I go back to it in 3 months, I can remember what the heck I was
doing with it and why.

important...it's an environment where liquidated damages because of missed
daily deadlines run to the £m's so we are VERY aware of the need to have our
dbs up and running, and effeciently... There are alot of changes made due to
LOL..
I've never yet ventured to the truely dark side...still a DEVeloper, well
technical analyst (thrrp! whatever that means), so I have to understand (or
at least try) a lot of the background processing that goes on within a DB...
