Location: Rockville, MD


providing technical expertise in the analysis, design, implementation, and
maintenance of an existing high-volume, data intensive system. Position
requires critical thinking and problem solving abilities to address complex
issues.  Candidate must be able to support large enterprise initiatives and
help resolve architectural issues in the environment and database
infrastructure, as well as develop and maintain an in-depth understanding
of the database architecture and the application functionality.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·         Write complex PL/SQL statements and tune existing PL/SQL
statements for performance and scalability
·         Develop and execute custom ETL (Extract, Transformation, and
Load) processes and procedures used to exchange data between systems
·         Develop procedures that process and modify existing data and
create database jobs to execute ad-hoc PL/SQL as well as procedures used to
validate data, modify data, or gather table and index statistics at regular
intervals
·         Perform database patching, upgrade and migration as necessary
·         Analyze performance issues and provide recommendation based on
testing results
·         Proactively diagnose and resolve problems affecting database
·         Maintain database configurations in compliance with release
management and change management policies
·         Work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, and
management to define new (and enhance existing) features that are aligned
with this organization’s overall long term strategy

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·         Participate in special projects
·         Assist in training
·         Transfer data to outside vendors
·         Document programs and procedures
·         Create client reports using windows based products
 *EQUIPMENT REQUIRED*Personal computer,   video display terminal, keyboard,
multi-line telephone, copy machine, fax   machine, mainframe peripherals,
MS server peripherals, compact disc. *WORK ENVIRONMENT*Standard office
  conditions with overhead fluorescent lighting, 68-75 degree air
temperature.*WORK SCHEDULE*40 hours, Monday   through Friday.  Must be
available to   work evenings or weekends to support users or to perform
program and system   testing.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, skills and general abilities:
·         Must be proficient with SQL and PL/SQL
·         Minimum 6 years hands on experience with Oracle 10g/11g
·         Minimum 3 years of experience with logical/physical data design
·         Experience with Oracle backup recovery
·         Experience with Unix operating system and scripting
·         Oracle certified professional preferred
·         A background working with hierarchical database systems is a plus
·         Experience supporting .Net applications on an Oracle database is
a plus
·         Excellent analytical and time management skills
·         Ability to prioritize and multi task
·         Ability to routinely make effective and timely decisions in
alignment with management direction
·         Ability to write user documentation.
·         Strong problem solving skills.
·         Good oral and written communication skills.
·         Must be able to work with abstract ideas.
·         Ability to work with users to develop new programs or changes to
programs.
