The SQL DBA Team Lead is a hands on technical and managerial role which
involves managing the global Production Control team who implement and
maintain the existing SQL, web, Crystal Reports, and similar middleware
systems and associated technologies. The role has requirements as a SQL
DBA and supports the application and infrastructure environments for
Microsoft™ SQL™ enterprise and standard 2000, 2005, and 2008 (including
R2) in a stand-alone and clustered system configuration. The position
is responsible for maintaining the software as well as the data
placement, integrity, structure, performance, capacity, availability,
recoverability and security of the database information. The candidate
must be able to work with application development teams to control code
and structure migrations into production, identify performance
bottlenecks and recommend solutions, and provide direction to optimize
the utilization of resources.
Desired skills:
• Capacity planning skills within a Wintel environment
• Understanding of advantages of a multi-site multi-tiered data center
environment and ability to propose new ways to leverage their
capabilities and capacities.
• Able to deploy and maintain SQL databases, instances and services to
meet application and customer needs.
• Knowledge of Microsoft IIS configurations and maintenance.
• Can identify web and other middleware issues or identify resources
to manage and control them.
• Can handle escalations from the IT Service Center or IT Operations
for application, server or storage related issues.
• Plusses include: SAN experience, Oracle experience and Sarbanes-Oxley
compliance.
• 8 years demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Windows™ and Windows™
SQL™ 2000, 2005 and 2008.
• Knowledge of relevant Microsoft technologies including, clustering,
load balancing, patching, database security and policy control, system
maintenance plans.
