POSITION SUMMARY: The development environment is server-side Java 7/8 with an emphasis on RESTful web services, distributed big-data processing (Hadoop/MapReduce/Storm/Spark) and cloud deployment (AWS, Docker, Puppet). There is some exposure to alternate JVM languages such as Scala and Groovy. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to contribute at a high-level to many aspects of our collaborative Agile development process: - Product and feature design. - Technical architectural design and review. - Software implementation with automated testing. - Peer code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing sessions. - Continuous process improvement, coding standards, use of code quality metrics. - Build, release and deployment automation and monitoring. - Customer support and troubleshooting. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Strong recent server-side Java development experience – 5-10 years of experience - Advanced object-oriented design skills, exposure to modern design patterns. - Working knowledge of algorithms and data structures. - Effective unit testing with JUnit and mock objects. - Experience of persistence with relational and NoSQL data stores. - Familiar with Eclipse, Maven, GIT and CI servers (e.g. Jenkins/Hudson, GO, Bamboo). - Experience building REST web service clients and servers.
