DB2 DBA Duration: 3 months CTH Location: Cincinnati, OH *Max Rate:$$55/Hr on 1099/C2C* Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support multiple DB2 subsystems in a z/OS mainframe environment Provide technical support and guidance to developers, operations, and business users Responsible for problem identification and resolution on problems and outages of DB2 subsystems, associated third party products, and job abends Act as on call point of escalation for offshore DBA System level monitoring and tuning using the Omegamon for DB2 monitor. Setup and support of database utilities including COPY, REORG, LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, BIND and EXPLAIN. Using DDL and DML, create and modify DB2 objects as requested by application developers Interface with operating system support personnel Work with security administration team (uses Top Secret product) to assign appropriate DB2 authorization roles for access control of tables, plans and packages On call support for production systems, job streams and processes Provide DB2 information for internal and external audits and SOX compliance Develop, implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures for DB2 subsystems and databases Maintain the DB2 system disaster recovery plan and scripts, making modifications as needed for changes in software or business requirements. Participate in mainframe disaster recovery exercises in support of DB2 subsystems Participate in projects to upgrade/migrate supported hardware to new or replacement equipment Create and maintain production jobs which create DB2 image copies to ensure data recoverability. Capacity planning and monitoring for DB2 subsystems Assist developers with performance tuning of SQL queries, indexing and concurrency issues Responsible for DB2 Catalog and Directory copies, recovery and reorg Collaborative design and development with programmers and business analysts Qualifications: Required Skills: Extensive knowledge and experience as a DB2 DBA in an IBM z/OS mainframe environment Extensive work experience with vendor products which support DB2 Experience creating, modifying and maintaining DB2 objects (DML and DDL) Ability to perform DB2 utilities Proficient with both systems and applications level tuning Ability to perform diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to assist with problem resolution Must be willing to act as on call escalation for offshore DBA Significant experience with DB2 backup and recovery strategies Experience with configuration and administration of database security Preferred Experience with: BMC Administration products for DB2 File-AID for DB2 SMP/E QMF DB2 Connect Ability to install, configure and maintain DB2 subsystems. Ability to install, configure and maintain third party software products associated with the DBMS. DBA experience with SQL Server or Oracel is an added plus.
