Cognos Report Developer
Job Description:
• This position will be working with an internal team developing dashboards
and reports in Cognos; the role requires expert
knowledge of Cognos reporting and analytics with proven experience
delivering business intelligence solutions.
Job Specific Responsibilities
• Develop dashboards, automated reports and report templates using advanced
Cognos functions as both stand-alone solutions and integrated within an
enterprise portal delivery
• Provide guidance on designing Cognos dashboards and Cognos best practices
• Participate in analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and
support of dashboards and reports
• Help design user entitlements and security architecture
• Interface with business analysts and/or users to clarify requirements.
Work closely with the different business groups to cater to their reporting
and dashboard needs.
• Analyze, troubleshoot and tune product performance or deployment issues
• Ability to work in a globally dispersed team environment
Candidate Requirements
• 5+ years (minimum) of business intelligence development experience
• 3+ years of Cognos experience
• Experience extending Cognos core capabilities with the JavaScript API to
customize design, user interactions, and behaviors
• Experience with Cognos features such as extracts, filters, actions,
parameters, context filters, sets, groups and aggregate measures.
• Experience with security aspects including authorizations and permissions
and data level entitlements
• Experience building reporting for HR subject matter
• Experience with relational databases, (Oracle a plus)
• Data Management and architecture experience a plus
• Conceptual thinker, learner, and effective problem solver
• Comfortable delivering complex solutions in tight timeframes
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to
communicate effectively with business partners
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
