Department of Education* *Must Have:* · *5+ years’ of professional experience* · *Strong experience with Cognos 10 and 11 including working with Framework Manager and Report Studio* · *Strong SQL programming skills* · *Experience with Oracle databases* *Position Description:* Our client is seeking a seasoned Cognos Developer for a hybrid role as a Business Analyst and Senior Software Developer. In this role, the incumbent must clearly understand business objectives and translate them into documented report requirements and communicate these to the business and technical stakeholders verbally, in writing and electronically. He or she needs to be able to understand the different standards in the client domain. Additionally, he or she will be solutioning, designing, developing and implementing Cognos Reports and Oracle database related development. The candidate must have experience in Cognos 10 / 11 report and cube development, data warehouse models, data modeling and general database best practices. Under general supervision, he or she shall deliver requirements and associated reports and data warehouse components for the State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). He or she needs to be able to adhere to best practices in developing report requirements, cognos reports, data warehouse models, stored procedures, PL/SQL and various SQL scripts. *Responsibilities* 1. Perform requirements analysis working closely with business stakeholders. 2. Perform data analysis pertaining to the new SLDS reports. 3. Work closely with business UAT testers to triage issues and determine if they are requirements issues, data issues, or defects. 4. Refactor requirements as necessary based on user testing and feedback. 5. Based on the analysis, design effective reports and data warehouse components to meet the requirements. 6. Build reports and data warehouse components. 7. Test reports to verify functionality. 8. Work closely with business UAT testers to support their test efforts and to resolve software defects and data issues as they are logged. 9.
