*Job Description:*



The primary function of this position is to administer and manage the
companies’ open systems Microsoft SQL Server environments.  Sammons
Financial Group’s (SFG)  primary operating environments are SQL Server on
Microsoft server platforms used to service employees and contractors in a
multi-site environment.  Responsibilities include the oversight of database
management systems (DBMS) software and application databases used to
support the company’s business applications.  Responsible for the overall
availability, stability, reliability, recoverability and performance of the
open systems database environment.  Primary responsibilities include
database related system software installation, customization and
maintenance (e.g. MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and Informatica); physical
database design, creation and maintenance; database performance monitoring,
tuning and space management; database backup and recovery; development and
enforcement of database standards; database related problem management;
infrastructure support for our Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) environment;
and infrastructure support for our open systems reporting environment.
Regularly provide guidance and training to less experienced IT staff.



*Essential Duties and Functions:*

   1. Proven experience managing and administering Microsoft SQL Server
   databases in a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment. a. Experience with
   DB2 and Informatica in a Microsoft Server environment is a plus
   2. Experience designing and installing SQL Server Databases
   3. Ability to troubleshoot and performance tune SQL Server databases
   4. Knowledge and experience with backup and recovery operations
   5. Experience with ETL, scripting, and reporting environments is
   beneficial
   6. Ability to work independently, and demonstrate solid problem
    resolution skills is a must.



*Qualifications:*

   - College degree in a related technical field and 5 years professional
   experience,  or equivalent work experience and training
   - Effective verbal and written communications skills and the ability to
   communicate with business partners and other IT staff
   - Problem solving skills sufficient to perform research and recommend a
   proposed solution to problems
   - Able to work on multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
   - Able to effectively direct and coordinate the work of other team
   members on a project without having HR management responsibility for them
   - Knowledge of software tools administration as required for the system
   role identified
