· Candidates must have all 3 of these skills and they must have
used them for an integrated solution.
· This is a hands on, development role as the primary design and
architecture will be handled by Will.
· Communication skills are very important so that they will
understand the business strategies but they won’t always be customer
facing. Will would be the primary point of contact to business; however,
in his absence, the consultant might work directly w/business and
therefore, communication skills could come into play there as well.
Scope of work: right now, they have data in various disparate systems.
They need to combine it, clean it and manipulate it. Ultimately they are
looking to create a Customer Master and a Product Master. Unique lists
that can then be exposed via .NET (typically for them) to downstream
applications like their eCommerce site, reporting sites, etc. The initial
scope is US and then will move to the Americas but it is a Global
initiative so he sees this as being an ongoing, longterm contract need.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze problems as assigned and provide solutions to address business
needs
• Create, support, and maintain implementations of data-centric technology
solutions to ensure that they efficiently and accurately provide business
value
• Use of Transact SQL (TSQL) to query data
• Use Microsoft® Data Quality Services (DQS) and Microsoft® Master Data
Services (MDS) to profile source data and ensure data quality
• Use Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Enterprise (SQL Server Management Studio /
SSMS) to design, build, and maintain both relational (OLTP) and dimensional
(OLAP) models
• Use .Net to develop/maintain data services to provide quality data access
• Use industry standard ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts and
Microsoft® SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to create/maintain data
integration objectives
• Where appropriate use Microsoft® SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
and/or ColumnStore indexes to create efficient data access
• Create consistent and accurate technical documentation for implemented
solutions
• Assist in the roll-out of new applications, problem fixes, and
enhancements of software
• Perform detailed planning and estimation of work effort involved in the
development and support of solutions
• Follow and participate in the creation of new processes and procedures,
while working with management to improve individual and team productivity
Qualifications:
• Must have good analytical, conceptual and root cause analysis skills.
• Expert level report developer, using SQL Server 2104 Enterprise
Information Management tools (MDS, DQS, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS)
• Ability to work with business users on requirements, develop appropriate
specifications and build reporting objects
• Ability to provide backup administrative support
• Expertise with TSQL coding for MS SQL Server
• Expertise with customizations to the user interface, performance tuning,
and navigation
• Expertise installing, upgrading, configuring and administrating MS SQL
Server products
• Expertise working with end-users to build reports from concept to
implementation
• Expertise creating requirements documentation and technical
specifications.
• Expertise with Data Warehousing and Data Marts
• 3-5 years of Microsoft Business Intelligence stack experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a
closely related field with coursework in technology-related subjects
