*Description:*
We are in search of an intermediate to senior-level Apache Kafka
Engineer/Architect consultant to support the management of enterprise data
hub cloud architecture capable of supporting our entire enterprise
globally. A successful candidate will be an Apache Kafka technology subject
matter expert with industry or large government agency experience. A
thorough understanding of Kafka theory and principles of data streaming are
critical distinguishing factors for an ideal candidate. Demonstrated
experience in Kafka management and services, assimilation with broader
corporate IT architecture, strict adherence to data standards, and strong
communication skills are also key factors in candidate evaluation.
*What You Will Do:*
- Complete setup of Apache Kafka setup in the AWS cloud
- Migrate existing data streams from one Kafka cluster to another
- Help teams with design and setup of AVRO schema models
- Trouble shoot Kafka configuration and setup issues
- Determine consumer and producer related data issues
- Code producers and consumers when required
- Design monitoring tools and scripts
- Create plans to scale up system based on future demand and growth
projections
- Produce system governance guidelines and principles
*Basic Qualifications:*
- Experience configuring, building and troubleshooting Apache Kafka
- Experience setting up distributed systems in AWS
- Experience with AVRO design and setup in Kafka
- Experience building and operating fault-tolerant, distributed, and
cloud based systems
- Complete familiarity with stream processing, and/or enterprise data
integration solutions
- Understanding of database fundamentals
- Solid systems programming basics (disk, network, operating systems,
etc.)
- Knowledgeable in shell scripting and some programming languages (Java
or Scala)
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Strong interpersonal communication capabilities working in a
collaborative team environment
- Strong desire to tackle hard technical problems and proven ability do
so with little or no direct daily supervision
