*Immediate hire position!!* * * *Mainframe Developer* Duration: 6mth – 1 year Work Location: Richardson, TX Job Description: *Qualifications:* This is a technical position and involves working with MVS, CICS, JCL, COBOL, DB2, SQL, BMS and VSAM based Credit System. This position involves – - designing, developing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and testing DB2, SQL, COBOL, JCL, Command-level COBOL code and applications on a MVS platform - working with project management personnel in managing the day-to-day development activities associated with the CAS credit assessment application - having knowledge of client-server systems This is a role requiring both strong analytical skills and strong technical skills, and requires an individual who has the ability to think critically and logically, a self-starter who can self-motivate and self-instruct with a minimum of direct oversight as a member of a distributed workgroup. The individual will be involved in projects from their inception and will be responsible for Development (including some design), Unit Testing, occasional QA, Production and Post-Production phases. During these project phases, the developer will interface with technical teams, business teams, functional teams, and others. This job requires good communication skills – both written and oral -- and the ability to work under tight dead lines in a fast-paced environment. The developer needs to be able to develop, test, integrate, troubleshoot, debug and implement software code for application components using detailed test plans, procedures, and design documents for complex to simple systems. Need to be able to work closely with information architects, business customers, operations support personnel, and other project members to execute technical design and resolve production issues. Need to be able to convert high-level application designs and system flows into application solutions for critical operations, support systems and databases. Need to have a very good understanding of on-line, batch, real-time customer care systems and applications. *Position Qualifications: * IBM Mainframe background required with proficiency in DB2 Command-Level COBOL, DB2 Batch COBOL, CICS, VSAM, Web Services/RDZ, MVS, JCL, BMS, DML, DDL, DB2 utilities for load, unload; DB2 debugger, fine tuning SQL, awareness of SQL error codes, appropriate error handling. Knowledge and use of third party software support products such as: XPEDITER, FILEAID, SYNCSORT, CONNECT-DIRECT(NDM), MS Office and MS Visio. Knowledge of TCP/IP connectivity, SPUFI, QMF, QMF for desktop, OMEGAMON for DB2, performance tuning in DB2 batch, DB2i from ISPF panels, FTP Processes, rule based engines like Strata and/or decision logic would be a plus. Strong functional analysis and written skills to produce business and system requirements and high level design documents. Detailed design validation and working closely with development, testing and architecture to ensure proper interpretation of all system and functional designs. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required along with a strong technical aptitude. Familiarity with SDLC methodologies and tools.
