*Job Description:*
We are currently looking for an exceptional, highly motivated Software
Engineer to perform as an individual contributor in the areas of
requirements engineering, software design, software development, system
integration, end-user documentation and training.
*The position will also be responsible for providing level 3 support*,
coordinating with other operations and support teams to diagnose and
resolve problems. This may include occasional off-hours and weekend work.
*Responsibilities:*
- Execute full software development cycle, including requirements
engineering, design, implementation, testing, test validation, reporting,
release documentation, troubleshooting and operation support.
- Design and implement manual and automated unit level and comprehensive
integrated test cases
- Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem
definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation,
flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
- Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system
specifications, standards, and programming
- Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending
changes in policies and procedures
- Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools,
programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in
educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining
personal networks; and participating in professional organizations
- Protect operations by keeping information confidential
- Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing
development and service issues
- Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring
with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes;
investigating problem areas; and following the software development
lifecycle
- Perform other duties as assigned
*Qualifications:*
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or
a technical field such as CIS or IT with outstanding academics AND a
minimum of one year of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of
education and relevant experience
- 2+ years professional software development experience, including:
- Java web server development experience in Unix/Linux
- Experience working with SQL and database applications.
- Experience developing interfaces to LDAP directory services and
Microsoft Active Directory
· Demonstrate proficient knowledge and utilization of engineering
tools necessary for successful performance of the essential functions of
this job description
· Demonstrate proficiency and possess experience necessary to
develop moderately complex software in C, C++, C#, Java, assembly language,
or other selected languages
· Demonstrate mastery of relevant software engineering tools
(configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators,
simulators and logic analyzers)
· Demonstrate proficient ability to capture and document software
requirements
*Justification or need for role:*
· Currently, at least 1/3 of the engineering bandwidth we have
available for requirements analysis and system development is being used to
provide support services to operations instead of system improvements.
· We need engineers allocated specifically for production support
to increase our delivery ability and support the planned expansion.
· In addition to performing tasks currently being performed by the
SA and dev teams, they will be designing and building tools to help
automate routine support tasks.
