Firstly, please try Emacspeak: DECtalk 5 might speak, but as said before the speech server must be improved (next release). Besides it, you may want to try, without guarantee, this sequence to launch Yasr and DECtalk when you have the prompt ($): press Control D to come back to the audio menu and then starts again Yasr. If it still fails, try once more. A few details: after the Control D, you might have to press Space to answer "no" to 3 questions : firstly for the question "Do you want to shutdown your PC", then for "Do you want to reboot your PC", and finaly for "Do you want to update your preferences".
