Which is the sound card?
Sometimes it can be helpful to add its identifier to the alsa cheatcode.
For example, using a sound blaster, it could be:
knoppix alsa=emu10k1
The identifier can be searched in the ALSA website:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/

Does Oralux come with Ispell ready to run? I went to:

I found lots of good information. But when I'm in a buffer with
a text file from the floppy drive, I do:
M-x ispell-buffer
Hit return and get nothing but silence. Humm
