You could get info about the kernel messages using the dmesg command;
the man page of syslogd will be helpful concerning the error messages.

When I worked in the FreeBSD, I could read every error message that
appeared on the screen, even if I couldn't get a sighted person. There
was a special log file for errors, also there were other useful log
