So you're saying to boot from the CD and *then* do the copy each time? And the
card is actually a USB card reader, which uses flash memory cards.

Does anyone know of a web browser that supports *both* Java
*and* SSL? Links seems to have Java, and Elinks has SSL, but
what I really need is to be able to do both. Is that at *all* possible?

Thanks, Gilles; changing that little option fixed the problem. Not only
could I save my scanner options, but I could also get it to permanently
use no punctuation and not use key-echo or word-echo.

I just installed the latest emacspeak, and now, for some strange
reason, VM won't let me send messages. I'm using the same .emacs and .vm
files from before I updated. Should I be changing something? Message
sending worked fine before, so this doesn't make sense.

emacspeak by doing the following commands as root:
cd some directory where you want to download the file to
wget http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/emacspeak/emacspeak-22.tar.bz2
tar -jxvf emacspeak-22.tar.bz2

If you're using 0.7, go into a shell as root and type
knoppix-installer. When you've done that, you want to be sure to
select the knoppix-like install. See Doug and Hank's recent messages
