Re: [Oralux] speech dispatcher on boot?

2007-08-15 Thread Gilles Casse
Hello,

If the process hangs during hardware detection, you could try at boot
time (the first beep):
knoppix noapic acpi=off

As you may know, Oralux is no more developed.
If you meet issues with 0.7 alpha it might be worth to try a more recent
distro with speech feedback.

For info, the expected behaviour in 0.7 alpha when everything works is:

* a first beep which informs the user that the boot prompt is displayed.
* after 30 seconds, the linux kernel and then the knoppix autodetection
of hardware starts (so your machine specifications on screen)
* and finally a beep followed by a pre-recorded message.
after this second beep, the user can selects his speech system: speech
dispatcher in English or other solutions (Multispeech, ...).

Best wishes,

Gilles
