Oliver,
Pteroceras semiteretifolium shouldn't normally be confused with
Gastrochilus. Although both have a deeply saccate lip, Pteroceras
semiteretifolium has erect sidelobes that are like large oblong flaps
stuck onto the sides of the sac, and it lacks a distinct midlobe.
Gastrochilus always has
Iris,
in his 1993 revision of the genus Pteroceras, Henrik Pedersen listed
both Sarcochilus uniflorus Gagnep (1934) and Pteroceras uniflorus
(Gagnep.) Tixier (1967) as synonyms of Pteroceras semiteretifoliumH.
Ae Peders (1992).
On page 23 he states that the Gagnepain name is illegitimate because
Iris rececently questioned the status of Sarcochilus uniflorus Gagnepain and
Pteroceras semiteretifolium Pedersen. Seidenfaden, in his 1992 "The Orchids
of Indochina," lists Sarcochilus uniflorus as a synonym of Pteroceras
semiteretifolium.
