Are there any sources to find "traditional"/ "public domain" Origami models?
There have been many changes to US Copyright laws and many texts have come into
public domains because of the changes.
Have any Origami models also come into public domain in a similar manner?

If you are looking at A4 size paper for origami,be sure to extend your search
and look at the sliver rectangle ratio paper too.
Silver rectangle paper are 1: Square root of 2 in proportion and seem to be the
basis of Origami before it switched to squares!
