Here you can find an easy and precise way to divide the side of square in thirds, fifths, sevenths and so on... This method is also valid to divide any retangular shape. http://origami.em.blog.br/archives/origami-divisao-quadrado-papel/ it is in brazillian portuguese but the page has an translator tool in sidebar...
