On behalf of Vicky Mihara-Avery and family,

Yesterday the origami community lost one of it finest, Vicki Mihara-Avery after
a brave battle with cancer. Vicky was a founding member of the Pacific Coast
Origami-USA convention and was awarded the Michael Shall Volunteer Award from
OrigamiUSA for her contributions to the continuing growth of origami in
America. Vicky, her sister Linda, and her parents have operated 2 paper stores
in San Francisco that have supplied perfect papers for origami masters to use
to create their masterpieces. Vicky specialized in “Tsutsumi,” the Japanese
art of gift wrapping. She created original origami models and taught countless
people how to fold with a kind and giving spirit. Her enthusiasm was
contagious. She was an inspiration in all areas of her life and she will be
greatly missed.

Linda will be compiling a 'Book of Memories' to remember Vicky. She would like
to have friends share their 'Favorite Memory' of Vicky to be included in this.
Please send any special pictures that you have as well. Email the memories to
Linda, mailto:lindamih...@gmail.com <mailto:lindamih...@gmail.com>, or written
and sent to Paper Tree, 1743 Buchanan St, SF CA 94115.
