deploy EJB without using .ear file

HI all I am new to orion, and have been trying to deploy my sample bean (in sample-ejb.jar) onto orion, following the orion-primer tutorial. Basically, I jar the sample-ejb.jar file and an application.xml file into the sample.ear file. Then I deploy the .ear file by adding the following
