Yg. Bhg. Datuk/Dato'/Datin/Tuan/Puan,

Dengan segala hormatnya saya merujuk perkara di atas.

2.  Adala dimaklumkan bahawa pihak MAMPU akan menganjurkan Anugerah
Kajian Kes Open Source Software (OSS) bersempena dengan Malaysian
Government Open Source Software Conference (MyGOSSCON 2010)yang dijangka
akan diadakan pada 2-3 November 2010.

3.  Tujuan Anugerah Kajian Kes OSS ini diadakan adalah untuk
menggalakkan perkongsian ilmu dan pengalaman dalam pelaksanaan OSS di
agensi Sektor Awam dan Institut Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) dan juga
untuk merangsang pembangunan dan penggunaan aplikasi perisian sumber
terbuka di Malaysia bagi menyokong Pelan Induk OSS Sektor Awam.
Pertandingan ini dikategorikan kepada dua kumpulan:-

i)  Kumpulan 1 : Agensi Sektor Awam
ii) Kumpulan 2 : Institut Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA).

4.  Sehubungan itu, kami amat berbesar hati dan mengalu-alukan
penyertaan agensi Yg. Bhg. Datuk/Dato'/Datin/Tuan/Puan dengan menghantar
seberapa banyak Kajian Kes OSS berkaitan. Terma  Syarat Pertandingan
serta Borang Penyertaan boleh dimuat turun dari laman web di
http://mygosscon.oscc.org.my/2010/casestudy. Pemenang dan finalis akan
diberi pengiktirafan dan akan dianugerahkan sijil. Sijil akan diserahkan
semasa Persidangn MyGOSSCON 2010.

5.  Kajian Kes OSS yang telah lengkap hendaklah dihantar sebelum 27 Ogos
2010 kepada casest...@oscc.org.my. Sekiranya fail kajian Kes OSS terlalu
besar untuk dihantar melalui emel, mohon pihak Yg. Bhg.
Datuk/Dato'/Datin/Tuan/Puan menyediakan pautan bagi fail tersebut.

The Malaysian Government's premier annual OSS conference, “The Malaysian
Government Open Source Software Conference” (MyGOSSCON 2010) will be
staged for its fourth successive year from 2nd to 3rd of November 2010
at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya.

MyGOSSCON is organised by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and
Management Planning Unit (MAMPU), an agency under the Prime Minister
Department to enhance the quality of public service delivery through OSS
and to intensify the development and implementation OSS. It also aims to
strengthen collaboration with Businesses, Higher Education Institutions
and OSS communities.

The conference is themed “OSS - Innovation for National Transformation”
aimed at providing a platform for decision makers, academia and IT
practitioners to share, exchange and refresh ideas and information on
real OSS examples, practical information and strategies.

MyGOSSCON 2010 will feature the most spirited OSS competition events:

1. The first 36-Hour Open Source Web Application Development Contest
2. OSS Case Studies Awards (Open for submission now)

Pihak MAMPU akan menganjurkan Anugerah Kajian Kes OSS  bersempena
dengan Malaysian Government Open Source Software Conference (MyGOSSCON)

OSCC MAMPU is calling for submission of OSS Case Studies for the 2010
National OSS Case Study Awards, which will be held in conjunction with
the annual OSS conference, MyGOSSCON which is expected to be staged in
early November 2010.

All Government agencies are encouraged to document and submit their OSS
solutions/projects/implementation in the form of OSS Case Study.

The awards are classified into two (2) groups;

Group 1: Public Sector Agencies
Group 2: IPTA

The objectives of OSS Case Study Awards are:
1. To provide an incentive to government agencies to share
knowledge on OSS implementation and 
showcase Malaysian OSS initiatives locally and internationally
2. To promote the use of OSS amongst Government agencies in
support of the Malaysian OSS Master Plan
3. To recognise the most innovative and effective implementation
of OSS among government agencies and 
public universities in boosting the OSS ecosystem

A template for submission is provided. It is recommended that the main

[Oscc-discuss] Calling for submission of OSS Case Studies for the 2010 National OSS Case Study Awards

Dear all, 

OSCC MAMPU is calling for submission of OSS Case Studies for the 2010
National OSS Case Study Awards, which 
will be held in conjunction with the annual OSS conference, MyGOSSCON
which is expected to be staged in early 
November 2010.

All Government agencies are encouraged to document and submit their OSS
solutions/projects/implementation 
in the form of OSS Case Study.

The awards are classified into two (2) groups;

Group 1: Public Sector Agencies
Group 2: IPTA

The objectives of OSS Case Study Awards are:

1. To provide an incentive to government agencies to share
knowledge on OSS implementation and 
showcase Malaysian OSS initiatives locally and internationally
2. To promote the use of OSS amongst Government agencies in
support of the Malaysian OSS Master Plan
3. To recognise the most innovative and effective implementation
of OSS among government agencies and 
public universities in boosting the OSS ecosystem


A template for submission is provided. It is recommended that the main
sections are kept as it is, however additional 
sub-sections can be added. Submission in Bahasa Malaysia are also
accepted provided that they follow the same formats. 
English is encouraged, as these case studies will also be used to
showcase and share Malaysian OSS implementations to 
international audiences.

[Oscc-discuss] Latest OSS Adoption Trend in Public Sector

The phenomenal success of MyGOSSCON 2009 has brought about the sharpest
increase in the number of public sector agencies adopting OSS. Over 95%
of all agencies, i.e. 691 public sector agencies are using OSS.

MAMPU continuously collects and tracks OSS adoption in all agencies. All

The third premier annual OSS conference, “The Malaysian Government Open
Source Software Conference” (MyGOSSCON 2009) will be held from 4th to
6th November 2009 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre,

The conference theme for this year, “Leveraging OSS To Ride The Economic
Wave” focuses on information technology implementation in the current
global economic scenario where governments and business organisations

Salam sejahtera, 

Pihak MAMPU telah melanjutkan tarikh tutup penyertaan Anugerah Kajian
kes OSS kepada 23 Oktober 2009 di atas permintaan ramai.

Anugerah Kajian Kes OSS akan dianjurkan bersempena dengan Malaysian
Government Open Source Software Conference (MyGOSSCON) 2009.

Tujuan Anugerah Kajian kes OSS ini diadakan adalah untuk Menggalakkan
perkongsian ilmu dan pengalaman pelaksanaan OSS di agensi Kerajaan dan
Institut Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA), dan juga merangsang pembangunan
dan penggunaan aplikasi perisian sumber terbuka (OSS) di Malaysia bagi
menyokong Pelan Induk Kerajaan. 

Finalis dan pemenang berpeluang menerima pengiktirafan dari Ketua
Setiausaha Negara dalam upacara penyampaian hadiah yang akan berlangsung
pada 6 November, hari ketiga MYGOSSCON 2009. 

Pertandingan ini dikategorikan kepada dua kumpulan :
I)Kumpulan 1 : Agensi Sektor Awam
II)Kumpulan 2 : Institut Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA).

Justeru itu kami amat berbesar hati jika agensi dan IPTA dapat menyertai

Dear all,

MAMPU is encouraging all Public Sector agencies to start deploying OSS,
in particular, agencies not adopting any OSS to contact OSCC MAMPU for
guidance and support on OSS implementation.

Latest statistics by MAMPU show that 528 agencies have adopted OSS with
total estimated known savings of over RM 52.6 million. Full details of

OSS adoption statistics and trends for all agencies are continuously
being collected and tracked. This data is made public for the benefit of
all Public Sector agencies and the general public. 

All public sector agencies are requested to contact OSCC MAMPU

2. Updates on their latest or recent OSS implementation. In particular,

[Oscc-discuss] Malaysian Government Open Source Software Conference 2009

MAMPU is preparing to stage its premier annual OSS conference, “The
Malaysian Government Open Source Software Conference” (MyGOSSCON 2009).
The conference is planned to be officiated by Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu
Koon and held from 4th to 6th November 2009 at Putrajaya International
Convention Centre. Please visit http://mygosscon.oscc.org.my for
announcements in the coming weeks and months as the conference details
become finalised.

Objective
-
To showcase the benefits of Open Source Software (OSS). 
To exhort and hasten further OSS deployment and development to bring
about the transformation of the entire ICT Industry in support of the
Malaysian Public Sector OSS Master Plan. 

Who should attend
-
While MyGOSSCON 2009 is directed primarily at Government of Malaysia
(GOM) agencies, attendance is open to participants from outside the
Public Sector.

The conference also provides an excellent forum for participants  to
hear firsthand from industry experts and to interact with their peers.
And not to be overlooked will be the extensive networking opportunities
for CIOs  IT Directors, as well as management, planning and legal
staff.

Conference Theme

This year's conference theme, “Leveraging OSS To Ride The Economic Wave”
is especially pertinent at a time of global economic uncertainty.
MyGOSSCON 2009 will re-emphasise GOM's desired direction for ICT
development in the Public and Private Sectors.

research, novel applications and industrial experience, with different
criteria for each category. Real life experiences and case studies are
particularly sought.

OSCC MAMPU is calling for submission of OSS Case Studies for the 2009
National OSS Case Study Awards. The OSS Case Study Awards are open to
ALL Public Sector Agencies including Public Higher Education
Institutions (IPTA) and Polytechnics. Presentation of the Awards will be
held in conjunction with the Malaysian Government Open Source Software
Conference 2009 (MyGOSSCON) from 4th to 6th November 2009.

To date, OSCC MAMPU has received submissions from both the IPTA and
public sector agencies. The number of submission is expected to increase

Dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan, Kementerian
Kewangan, UKM, UPSI and many more.


The Awards are classified into three (3) groups;

Group 1: Public Sector Agencies other than IPTA  Polytechnics;
Group 2: IPTA  Polytechnics; and
Group 3: IPTA  Polytechnics Students.

Submissions of the OSS Case Studies are encouraged for the purpose of
knowledge sharing. Please do not resubmit the OSS Case Studies submitted
in 2008.

A template for submission is provided. It is recommended that the main
sections are kept as it is, however additional sub-sections can be
added. Submission in Bahasa Malaysia are also accepted provided that
they follow the same formats. English is encouraged, as these case
studies will also be used to showcase and share Malaysian OSS
implementation to international audiences.

MAMPU would like to announce that the number of Public Sector Agencies
adopting OSS continues to increase. To date, 505 Public Sector agencies
have adopted OSS. This also shows a remarkable surge from a mere 25

[Oscc-discuss] OSS Adoption Trend: 501 Public Sector Agencies Moves To Open Source

Dear all,

MAMPU would like to announce that the number of Public Sector Agencies
adopting OSS continues to increase. To date, 501 Public Sector agencies
have adopted OSS. This also shows a remarkable surge from a mere 25
agencies in the year 2003. Full details are available at:

Public Sector agencies not implementing any OSS are now strongly
encouraged to adopt any OSS appropriate to their needs before the end of
Phase II of the OSS Master Plan. 

OSS adoption statistics and trends for all agencies are continuously
being collected and tracked. This data is made public for the benefit of
all Public Sector agencies and the general public. They are updated
every fortnight.

All public sector agencies are requested to contact OSCC MAMPU
for:

1. Assistance in OSS implementation. Please call helpdesk at 03-83191201
or email to helpd...@oscc.org.my 
2. Updates on their latest or recent OSS implementation. In particular,
agencies implementing OSS in practice but are stated otherwise
in the above published record are strongly encouraged to contact OSCC
MAMPU for updates.

The Spanish Open Source Software National Observatory has initiated a
study of the state-of-the art of open source software technologies in
the world. The aim is to identify and analyze the ongoing public and
private initiatives and projects, policies and legal issues, as well as
the technological trends on OSS worldwide.

[Oscc-discuss] Call For OSS Case Studies Submissions For 2009 National OSS Case Study Awards

OSCC MAMPU is calling for submission of OSS Case Studies for the 2009
National OSS Case Study Awards.

This OSS Case Study Awards are open to ALL Public Sector Agencies
including Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) and Polytechnics.
Presentation of the Awards will be held in conjunction with MSC Malaysia
Open Source Developers' Conference in May 29th to June 3rd 2009.The
Awards are classified into three (3) groups;

Group 1: Public Sector Agencies other than IPTA  Polytechnics;
Group 2: IPTA  Polytechnics; and
Group 3: IPTA  Polytechnics Students.

Submissions of the OSS Case Studies are encouraged for knowledge sharing
purpose. Please do not resubmit the OSS Case Studies submitted in 2008.
The best OSS Case Studies will also be eligible for the Final National
OSS Case Study Awards 2009 which will be held in conjunction with
MyGOSSCON 2009 in November 2009. 

The OSS Case Study Awards are for the following solution categories:

  * Desktop
  * Infrastructure 
  * Application 

Submission Template
---
A template for submission is provided. It is recommended that the main
sections are kept as it is, however additional sub-sections can be
added. Submission in Bahasa Malaysia are also accepted provided that
they follow the same formats. English is encouraged, as these case
studies will also be used to showcase and share Malaysian OSS
implementations to international audiences.

Submission Deadline
---
The submission deadline is on 8th May 2009.

NOTE:Finalists will be able to update their submissions for final
national awards in November 2009. 

Eligibility
---
All Public Sector agencies, IPTA/Polytechnics and their students are
eligible.

Submitting Submissions
--
Please submit enquiries and the case studies, to casest...@oscc.org.my
before the deadline. If the case study files are too large to be sent by
email, please provide a link.
Finalists  Winners
---
Group 1 - 3 finalists will be selected and awarded for each solution
category. 1 winner will be selected for each category from the
finalists. 

Group 2 - 3 finalists will be selected and awarded for all solution
categories. 1 winner will be selected for all solution categories from
the finalists.

Group 3 - 3 finalists will be selected and awarded for all solution
categories. 1 winner will be selected for all solution categories from
the finalists.

This will make a total of 15 finalists and 5 winners.

All OSS case study submissions will be compiled and uploaded to OSCC
MAMPU's website. Selected case studies may also be compiled into a
publication.
