Here is an interesting article that ranks the organisations contributing to the linux kernel. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-10288910-16.html?tag=mncol;txt
At the top of the list is (none) at 18.1% presumably people who contribute to the changes but is not part of his official employment Second is Redhat at 12.3% and is regarded as the largest open source company (arguably after Google) Third is unknown (7.2%) which either means that the contributor is unknown or the organisation is unknown. Then comes the traditional technology giants : Intel (6.9%), IBM (6.3%), Novell (5.9%), Oracle (3.3%) And here is another article about companies increasingly getting behind open source projects http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-10303566-16.html?tag=mncol;posts Which also quotes a Gartner report; http://mediaproducts.gartner.com/reprints/microsoft/164057.html --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Join Open Source Developers Club Malaysia http://www.osdc.my/ Facebook Fan page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=98685301577 http://www.facebook.com/OSDC.my You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "OSDC.my Mailing List" group.
