Re: [osg-users] Taking it easy for a couple of days

2009-05-22 Thread Robert Osfield
Hi All,

After a week of steadily getting over the cold my cold has suddenly
come back with a vengeance. Feels more like Flu now and presently
feel like a old man who's been knocked over by a bus and not allowed
to sleep for a week.

So again I'll take a back seat on the list/forum, let you guys take up
the slack.

Robert.

Hi Paul, Robert,

whenever I get cold, I do following:
 - drink a lot of (water, juice, whatever, no alcohol!!!)
 - drink black/green tea with honey
 - eat lemons, this helps really
 - then put a lot of clothes over you over night so that you start to sweat
 - sweating means you increase your body temperature, which meanse you help you
body to fight against the invaiders :)

And the best advice, stop thinking like: Ohh, I am sick... I am so sick... I
cannot do anything... Be positive, this helps also a lot!

I wish you fast recovery and take care !!!

Since you asked... no, pretty much has to be pineapple. Some acid
specific to pineapple juice cuts through mucous. I've made myself sick
on the stuff before drinking so much of it trying to find moments of
clear-headedness. I never drink it otherwise but we always have some
cans around just in case.

But thats the best bit of a cold!
Staying in bed saying, oohh I'm so ill it must be flu/pneumonia - while
your wife makes you cups of tea and gives you it's only a cold -stop being
such a wuss about it looks.

My wife was joking about this type an Man flu yesterday.

As a general progress report, I'm functioning a bit better today. As
yet I haven't had to take to bed and am able to work, albeit at not
quite my usual intensity.

Hi Robert,

Me too, hope you get well soon. If this is the swine flu, don't worry, it's
less bad than common influenza.

Neil, evidence suggest that women's immune system is stronger, but not
always. In the case of swine flu, at least in my country, there were
infected more women than men. At the point when the flu becomes mortal
(pneumonia) apparently it doesn't discriminate.
